Teen Programs

Dedicated to providing a supportive and dynamic environment that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and community involvement

Addressing key areas essential for teen development

We address key areas essential for teen development, including violence prevention, nutrition, and workforce readiness, to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to succeed.

What We Offer

1)  Academic Support and Enrichment
Our Philadelphia teen programs, funded by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, are designed to keep youth safe and off the streets by offering extended hours, trauma-informed care, and engaging curricula focused on healthy decision-making. By providing a safe, supportive environment during critical after-school hours, we help teens develop the tools they need to navigate challenges, avoid risky behaviors, and build a brighter future. Our programs empower youth with the knowledge, resilience, and skills to make positive life choices, fostering a sense of community and belonging that helps prevent violence and promote personal growth.

2)  Violence Prevention and Safety
Conflict Resolution Workshops: Programs that teach effective strategies for managing and resolving conflicts peacefully.

Violence Prevention Education: Comprehensive education on recognizing, avoiding, and addressing violence, with a focus  on building safe and supportive communities.

Safe Spaces: Providing a safe and secure environment where teens can discuss their concerns and access support.

3)  Health and Wellness
Physical Fitness Programs: Engaging activities that promote physical health and encourage an active lifestyle.

Nutrition Education: Healthy meal options and workshops on balanced eating to support overall well-being.

Mental Health Support: Resources and programs addressing emotional health, stress management, and mindfulness practices.

4)  Workforce Development
As a provider of Out-of-School Time (OST) and Career Connected Learning, our Clubs equip teens with valuable workforce development experiences that prepare them for future success. Our programming includes paid work experiences, internships, and skill-building projects designed to teach real-world skills.

At many of our sites, youth engage in business planning, execution, and sales, where they create and market their own products, earning extra income while learning essential entrepreneurial skills. Through these hands-on experiences, teens gain practical knowledge, build confidence, and develop the foundation for thriving careers in the workforce.

5)  Creative & Recreational Activities
At our Boys & Girls Clubs, teens have access to a wide range of creative outlets where they can express themselves and explore their artistic passions. From recording studios and podcasting to spray painting, clothing design, art studios, and even 3D printing, our Clubs provide the tools and spaces for teens to bring their creative visions to life. These opportunities not only allow youth to experiment with new forms of artistic expression but also help them develop technical skills that can lead to future career paths in the creative industries.

6)  Creative & Recreational Activities
At our Boys & Girls Clubs, teens have access to a variety of recreational activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and leadership. One of our standout offerings is our dynamic teen basketball leagues, where youth not only enjoy the sport but also benefit from mentorship by local leaders within community centers in Philadelphia who coordinate and support the leagues. These programs foster a sense of community, encourage positive role models, and help teens develop important life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, both on and off the court.
