Asian-American Outreach Program

The Asian American Outreach Program, known locally as the "Lotus Program," is a program of the Marconi Older Adult Program, housed in the South Philadelphia Boys & Girls Club.

Established in 2018, this program serves older adults that speak Cantonese, Khmer, and Mandarin. The program is operated by Lynn Tang, the Asian American Outreach Coordinator, who provides a variety of in-person and virtual case management services.

In partnership with the Cambodian Association of Greater Philadelphia, Lynn also provides educational programming to our Marconi Older Adult Program members, promoting a culture of inclusion and cultural awareness.

The Lotus Program is a free gathering with lunch served to go at noon. Suggested donation of $1.25

Some of the activities in this program include:

EDUCATION:

  • Computer and Cell Phone Classes

  • English Language Classes

  • Storytime: Sharing cultural stories among members of different backgrounds

  • Cooking Demonstrations

  • Art Classes

EXERCISE:

  • Umbrella and Fan Dance

  • Tai Chi Classes

SOCIALIZATION:

  • Chat and Chew: members enjoy refreshments and share stories with each other

RECREATION:

  • Brain Teasers and Mind Games

  • Board Games
